Runoff analysis of the Chang Jiang ( the Yangtze River )

چکیده
The daily discharge of the Chang Jiang (the Yangtze River) at Yichang (catchment area about one million square kilometres) is derived by routing the daily discharge of the Jinsha Jiang at Pingshan (catchment area about half a million square kilometres) with modelled runoff based on daily precipitation at 14 rainfall stations in the downstream Sichuan basin. Precipitation at each station is transformed into runoff by means of a tank model composed with a time lag. The time lag is assumed to obey a normal distribution, the mean and the standard deviation of which are determined by the discharge on the same day at Three Gorges. PURPOSE AND AVAILABLE DATA Purpose The purpose of the study is to derive the daily discharge of the Chang Jiang at Yichang from the daily discharge of the Jinsha Jiang at Pingshan and daily precipitation measured at 14 points in the downstream part of the catchment, namely the Sichuan basin (Fig. 1). Discharge data The daily discharges of the Jinsha Jiang at Pingshan (catchment area 485 090 km) and of the Chang Jiang at ' Yichang downstream of Three Gorges (catchment area 1 005 501 km) are available for five years from 1978 to 1982.

Variation of River Islands around a Large City along the Yangtze River from Satellite Remote Sensing Images
River islands are sandbars formed by scouring and silting. Their evolution is affected by several factors, among which are runoff and sediment discharge. The spatial-temporal evolution of seven river islands in the Nanjing Section of the Yangtze River of China was examined using TM (Thematic Mapper) and ETM (Enhanced Thematic Mapper)+ images from 1985 to 2015 at five year intervals. The followi...

On the basis of monthly runoff series obtained in 1950-2013 and annual sediment load measured in 1956--2013 at five key hydrological stations in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River basin, this study used the Mann-Kendall methods to identify trend and abrupt changes of runoff and sediment load in relation to human activities. The results were as follows: (1) The annual and flood se...

[1] On the basis of estimates of sediment accumulation in reservoirs, the impact of 50,000 dams on sediment supply and intertidal wetland response in the Yangtze River catchment is examined. The total storage capacity of reservoirs is 200 10 m, or 22% of the Yangtze annual runoff. The sediment accumulation rate in reservoirs has increased from 0 in 1950 to >850 10 t/yr in 2003. Although sedimen...
متن کاملHydrological Implications of Climate Change on River Basin Water Cycle: Case Studies of the Yangtze River and Yellow River Basins, China
Climate change is a global issue that draws widespread attention from the international society. As an important component of the climate system, the water cycle is directly affected by climate change. Thus, it is very important to study the influences of climate change on the basin water cycle with respect to maintenance of healthy rivers, sustainable use of water resources, and sustainable so...
